Chinanews, Shanghai, Oct. 16 (By Li Jing) - International Olympic
Committee President Jacques Rogge appeared at Shanghai International
Circuit today and witnessed the first "join-hands" of Beijing Olympics
and F1 Grand Prix. Shortly after his stay in Nanjing for the 10th
National Games of China, Rogge also thought highly of China's
organization of F1 Grand Prix.
Rogge told Chinese media that a brief stay in Nanjing has impressed him
deeply with the 10th National Games, the enthusiasm of Chinese people in
sports and the excellent organization of the event. The F1 Grand Prix in
Shanghai is also well organized. Thus he drew the conclusion that China
is an excellent organizer of sports games.
Although the Beijing Olympics is a much larger and more grandiose event
than F1 Grand Prix, the essence of organization is very similar - to
guarantee smooth process of the games.
Prior to the interview with the media, Rogge watched nearly twenty
minutes of the performance at the opening ceremony of the F1 Grand Prix
and showed great interest in the short and precise opening ceremony. He
confidently concluded that the Beijing Olympics would be a great success.
